January 2026 Meeting

January 5, 2026

Club Information

The first meeting of the year will be on January 5, 2026. The new Board Members are Gene Colley - President (again), Mike Marvin - Treasurer, and Joe Bohn - Newsletter. A special thanks to the outgoing Board Members for their dedication and support. Neal Brand who will assume the role of "Past President", Sue Hipp for her excellent work on the monthly Newsletter, and a special thanks to David Hoenig for his years supporting the club as Treasurer.

Demonstration

The January demo is going to be done by Derek Weidman. We are overlooking the fact that he is a Philadelphia Eagles fan and welcoming him back to Texas. Derek is an original artist. No one has done anything like he has and we will get to enjoy him putting on a show for us! This demo is called Rapid Lathe and Chainsaw Textures along with Stroboscopic multi-axis Turning.

Last months meeting

The last months meeting was the annual Christmas party. Photos from the party are in the Gallery and can be accessed by selecting "2025 Christmas Party" from the Event selection in the sidebar. At the party, the winners for the collaboration competition were announced. The "Best Turned" prize went to Neal Brand", the "Best Embellished" prize went to Joel Rubin, and the "Best Overall" went to Richard Ruff for his turning and Joe Bohn for his embellishment work. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all who participated. Pictures of all of the collaboration pieces can be found in the Gallery under the Collaboration event.
